Mariangeles Camargo is Special Advisor of Valoris Stewardship Catalysts, a firm that helps investors and portfolio companies improve their corporate governance, investor stewardship and sustainability performance. She has worked with financial institutions across a variety of countries for over 17 years to make Sustainable Finance a reality – to improve environmental and social performance, comply with regulatory requirements and respond to increasing expectations of stakeholders, including capital providers.

Mariangeles has extensive expertise in the development of “green” financial products and in integrating best international standards, including the IFC Performance Standards on Environmental and Social Sustainability. She has worked extensively with the largest multilateral institutions operating in Latin America and is intimately familiar with their environmental and social policies and guidelines. Evaluating credit risk workflows and business processes to design and implement Environmental and Social Management Systems is a particular focus of Mariangeles’s work with banks and non-bank financial institutions.

As a leader in the field, Mariangeles has developed and delivered content to facilitate numerous trainings (in-person, virtual and on-line) on environmental and social risk management, the integration and implementation of IFC´s Performance Standards on Environmental and Social Sustainability, green mortgage financing, and energy efficiency financing. She has been an accredited Internal Auditor (TPECS) OHSAS 18001-2007 and Lead Auditor (TPECS) ISO 140001 2015. Mariangeles received her Master of Science in Finance from Bentley College (Massachusetts, USA) and has more than 25 years of international experience in financial markets, particularly in credit risk management, project structuring and investment banking.

In addition to her native Spanish, Mariangeles speaks English and Italian.
